To some, autumn means the end of summer, the start of school, change in the weather, apple picking and more. As I rip a page of my Harry Potter 365-day desk calendar, the arrival of autumn only means one thing to me…

DEATHLY. FREAKING. HALLOWS.

And so as the bell rings and the leaves change, part 1 of Deathly Hallows is less than 3 months away (less than 75 days to be correct). So here’s your weekly fix of what’s in the news to burst those back-to-school blues.

  • For all you east coast residents, this year’s, fourth annual Quidditch World Cup will take place from November 13th-14th in New York City. Organized by the International Quidditch Association, fifty teams, high school and college teams, will compete for the Cup. If you’re part of your school’s team and think you guys have what it takes, follow the link and sign up quick!

  • U.K film magazine Empire recently released their Preview Issue last week, with an article on the latest Potter. A lot of new stills have been released with a look at Scrimgeour, the trio, Bathilda Bagshot and more. You can check it out at the following links:

  • Because J.K. Rowling wasn’t already an amazing woman and writer, here’s another reason why we love her: The author recently donated £10m to the University of Edinburgh to set up a multiple sclerosis research clinic in memory of her mother.
  • Thinking of traveling to France this winter? Don’t forget to make a stop at the Harry Potter “Magic Christmas” convention at La Maison International Paris from December 18th-19th! The convention will include an autograph session, a Sorcerer’s Ball, contests, an orchestra, sessions with cats and crew and more. In attendance will be Tom Felton (Malfoy), Matthew Lewis (Neville) and Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley).
