It’s hard enough to find the motivation to work out over the summer, but
theidea of having to work out in the hot heat of the sun just adds to your laziness. There is a solution: indoor exercise.
- Join a gym. When you’re a member of a gym, you have various work out machines to choose from, most of which are inside. Instead of running around your neighborhood and feeling like you’re going to have a heat stroke, run on the treadmill. You can even bring a book or magazine to keep your mind more occupied.
- Indoor sports. Check to see if you local recreational center has indoor sport teams such as basketball, volleyball or tennis. You still get all the action, minus the draining UV rays. If you’re in college, check to see if your school offers intramural sports. It’s also a great way to meet new people!
- Fitness videos. Sure, some of them may look corny and it may feel a little awkward at first, but fitness videos can be really efficient. There’s a wide selection of videos from dance, to yoga, to boot camp. You’re sure to find one that fits your personality.
- Calisthenics. There are tons of calisthenics that can help you get in shape, and you can do most of these pretty much anywhere! Try some of these: sit ups, push-ups, jumping jacks, jump rope, lunges, squats, and many more.
- Just dance! Crank up the tunes and dance around your room like no one’s watching! You can burn tons of calories, it’s fun, and you don’t really feel like you’re actually working out.
- Interactive video games. With today’s technology, even video games can help us get in shape. Wii offers numerous games that get you up and out of your seat like Just Dance, Wii Sports, or Wii Fitness.
The main idea is to get up and get moving. Don’t let the sun’s harsh heat and UV rays keep you from getting the work out that you really need. You can use these methods whenever you want, no matter what the weather’s like outside. No more excuses. Get up and get going!
