Today I got a post card from Finland. Jealous? You should be.

Okay, so I bet you’re wondering why I’m getting postcards from strangers in other countries… Postrcrossing.com is a great site where you can connect with people throughout the world via postcards. It was all started by a boy in Portugal who wasn’t feeling the love from his mailbox and started the idea to begin a website that would make everyone happy to see the mail man.

On July 14, 2005 the Postcrossing Project was launched and open to everyone for free! All a person needs to do is sign up, request an address, send a postcard, and wait.

My postcrossing page (http://www.postcrossing.com/user/Odell) shows lovely little me and tells everyone enough information to send me an action packed post card! I have been a member for a little over a month and I’m addicted already… Anxiously awaiting for my sent post cards to be registered so I can send more; hating Sunday because there is no chance of a post card coming; and really loving browsing the postal website for stamps. I have sent postcards everywhere: Croatia, Japan, Russia, Czech Republic… And I have gotten them from all over too: Finland, China, Belarus, Russia, Greece… A favorite of mine came from Belarus (a country near Russia). The girl who wrote me had such beautiful handwriting that looked nearly typed. My other favorite was, of course, my first Harry Potter card from Finland. There is also an option to direct swap with people you find especially lovely; you just ask for their address so you can send a letter or postcard back!

Do you love strangers from around the world?! Do you love postcards!? Do you just love getting cute stamps with words you cannot read printed on them?! YES? YOU DO? Perfect.

Awesome! This year, my friends and I were all abroad, and sent each other postcards. I got mail from the U.S., China, Japan, England, Austria, The Netherlands, and India. It was so much fun to collect postcards from these places. You’ve convinced me to sign up for PostCrossing so I can keep getting international postcards!
