Let’s face it, gen-yers are addicted to the internet.
I can’t even remember a time when I didn’t check my email fourteen times a day. There are several sites that I visit every day and if you’re not already addicted here are five of them that are bound to become a part of your daily routines too.
- Twitter. I figured I start my list off with the most addicting website quite possibly ever. I tweet on my laptop. I tweet from my phone. I tweet in the morning. I tweet at night. I tweet to my friends. I tweet to celebs. Sometimes I think tweeters know more about my life than my family. If you haven’t tried twitter just be warned that if you don’t want to be addicted don’t start. For those unfamiliar twitter is a social networking site that allows its users to share thoughts in 140 characters or less. What’s unique about this site compared to other social networking sites is that most celebrities use it and a lot of those who use it will interact with their followers/fans with it. Twitter is honestly my favorite way to keep up with all my favorite bands on tour. And since Twitter gives you the ability to get certain updates to your phone once you start Twitter can literally be every where!
- Tumblr. If you’ve ever wanted to blog. Tumblr is the easiest way to start. No need to understand HTML or any type of computer coding here. The site gives you the opportunity to post text, pictures, links, audio, video, and it gives users the ability to chat.I’m still really new to this site, but so far I’ve found myself logging in everyday. There are a lot of fan sites who make their home on Tumblr and a lot of them create these 30 day challenges where each day you post a fact or picture or thought about a band, tv show, celeb, or subject. I’m currently participating in two for my two favorite bands Days Difference and Honor Society.
- Facebook. I probably don’t have to describe this one too much because I’m betting 99% of you reading this have one and if you don’t you’re probably highly opposed. Fair enough. Let me just say that facebook is the only place where I actually keep in touch with friends. Being someone who has gradutated high school and attended two different colleges I have lots of friends in lots of difference places. Facebook is a great place to keep those friends organized so I can keep in touch with the people I care about and have connections with.
- Cambio.com. This is a new site launch by the Jonas Brothers camp, but don’t skip to number five just yet! This is site dedicated to celebrities and change. This isn’t a site where celebrities talk statically to you. This is a site where celebrities interact with you. And a place where the programming is tailored specifically to the needs of the users…aka YOU. There are live chats and videos of live concerts and interviews. This site is addicting to the fame addict in all of us.
- Formspring. This site may be the epitome of cyber bullying, but it’s still addicting. This site gives you the ability to ask anyone anything with the ability to ask these things anonymously. Wanna ask that girl in your class why she’s so mean? Wanna ask that boy in your class if he likes you? Wanna tell your best friend what you really think of her? If they have an account here’s your chance.
And of course, if there was a sixth component to this list–It would certainly be this fantastic internet gem.
