Gypsy child, coffee maker, rockstar–whatever you want to call her, Sammy Witness is a force to be reckoned with.
With the release of her EP The Winter Session and Border-to-Border tour there is no doubt she’s a busy woman.
“You’re the only person I’ll ever do an interview with while peeing.” She said to me over the phone and in between sets at a local show. “Yeah, I’m a real force to be reckoned with.”
While not known for her classy interview skills, Sammy was chosen as one of the top 20 contestants in a contest to play at the famed Lilith fair.
“It’s one the highest honor for a singer songwriter, in my opinion. It would be honor to play a festival that so many of my idols have performed at.”
If chosen, she’ll no doubt play songs off The Winter Sessions.
“The tone of the album is a little less angsty than what I’d usually play. It’s got a couple of fun songs in there, including a love song. And Water Bottles which is sort of poppy. It’s got a more upbeat tone. And I had a lot of fun making it.”
The EP got its name from the recording session. “The studio was in Boston. We were snowed in, and as a Florida girl, it was my first real winter.”
Hopefully a lot more firsts will be on the way for Sammy, including rocking out the stage at this year’s Lilith Fair!
